I am listing ten books which I like the most.
1. Animal Farm & 1984 by George Orwell. These two books are remarkable not only because of their amazing story telling but also for the incisive & scathing parody of Communism.
2. Godan (Hindi) by Munshi Premchand: If you read Hindi books there is no way you can leave out Premchand. Godan is his magnum opus. Plus I like all his stories as well because I have been reading them since my childhood.
3. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez: The beauty of Magical Realism.
4. The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka: The kafkaesque description of pain, abandonment and loss of hope.
5. And Then There Were None by dame Agatha Christie: A masterpiece from the Queen of Mystery.
6. Catch 22 by Joseph Heller: Absolutely hilarious and gripping at the same time.
7. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
8.Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen: An all time classic
9. Maila Aanchal (Hindi) by Phanishwar Nath Renu: The best aanchalik upanyas (Reginonal Novel) by a long margin.
10. The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Engels: If you want to know why communism as a philosophy took the world by storm.
